This is the perfect park for those looking for a unique location that offers that traditional southern charm. There is an old rustic barn next to the house that would make a beautiful backdrop for those fall photos with your furbaby! Also, there is a bench on the porch of the old house above. Imagine taking pictures with you, your family, and furbaby on that bench! It would make such a great picture to hang up on your wall.
Please note that this is a very popular spot for photo sessions. So if we do go here, we may have to wait to take pictures in certain spots.
Castaway Island Preserve
Near Jax Beach
This trail/park is great for those that are looking for that Florida vibe without having to go to the beach. It is also very scenic in some areas so it would make an amazing sunset photo shoot. The preserve is also very pet-friendly and easy to walk, as most of it is either wooden pathway or concrete. I would recommend bringing bug spray as it does get 'buggy' there.
That's me in the picture above by the way with my furbaby, Fred!
Julington Durbin Creek Preserve
Near St. Johns- Bartram Area
If you want that woodsy, rustic look to your pictures, this area I would recommend 10x over. There are so many areas at this trail that do not look like Florida. That is why I think it's such a unique park that should not be missed! There are over 6 miles of trail so there are plenty of spots for pictures.
I also want to mention how quiet and peaceful this place is! We will often have the trails all to ourselves! I also recommend bringing bug spray, as there are quite a few bugs out there.
Does your dog love the beach? Do they love to play in the water? This beach is great because if we come to the beach at the right time, there won't be too many people there. I find that Atlantic beach is much quieter than Jax beach. That will make it easier for you and me to get that picture without anyone in it! And did I mention that Atlantic Beach is voted as one of the top beaches in Florida?
I always recommend either a sunrise or sunset photoshoot at a beach. That means depending on the time of the year, either that will be really early in the morning or later in the morning.
St. Johns Riverwalk
If you live near downtown this is an easy place to miss. There is over a mile walkway that has beautiful views of the Jacksonville city. I don't see many people take pictures of their pets here, so your pictures will be quite unique if you choose to have a photo shoot there! I would recommend evenings during the week or Sunday evening, as those days tend to be less busy.
I hope this helped in figuring out what park is right for you and your furbaby. I think each park is perfect for a certain feel or occasion, and I love that Jacksonville has so many options!
