Oh, the good old question, "what do I wear??!"
When we are taking pictures we want to look our best. It's natural to feel that way but it can also feel overwhelming. Especially if you are not that fashion oriented.
No need to worry! In this week's blog post I go over 5 tips on what to wear and not to wear.
Wear colors that are part of nature. They will come across as more natural and easy on camera. Just make sure that if your dog has dark fur to not wear dark clothing and vice versa. That way you don't blend into your furbaby.
However, this does not have to apply to your furbaby. Bandanas, bow-ties, and outfits can be as crazy as you want them. This is because the accessory is small, and doesn't compete with the surroundings.
Do Not Wear Loud Prints
This goes for stripes, chevron print, polka-dot, any print that is repetitive. My best advice is just to stick to a good ole' plain color! Prints can confuse a camera lens and can do some weird things! Have you ever taken a picture of someone with a striped shirt and you have that weird line affect going on in the picture? Yep, that happens when you are wearing prints that are confusing to the camera lens. It just doesn't transfer well! If you must wear a print, a soft romantic floral is always beautiful for the ladies. For men, I suggest a plaid or tartan.
Do Stick To Classics
This is a good rule of thumb. Remember too that taking pictures with your furbaby might involve some playing around in the park so don't wear heels and anything too fancy. A nice casual outfit is always my recommendation (more on that below!). You don't want to wear anything too trendy, because 5 or even 2 years down the road that trend will be out of style. And you will say to yourself, "what was I wearing??!"
Do wear clothing appropriate for the season.
This goes without saying. Don't wear shorts and a t-shirt for a Christmas holiday photo shoot. When you wear clothing not typical for that season, it can look out of place. Also, it might be a little too chilly to wear shorts on a December afternoon!
Outfit combinations that I recommend:
Image above - woman on the left and men on the right. As you can see - simple is the best choice! Stick to the basics with simple accessories and you will be set! Again, make sure that you don't wear any colors similar to your furbaby.
I hope this helped you figure out what to wear and not to wear for a photo shoot. However, this is your photo shoot and you can wear what you like, but I do want you to look your best so I strongly suggest that you follow my tips!
I recommend my friend's blog for fashion tips in terms of what looks best for your figure (a whole other topic!), and you can read her blog HERE. She has amazing tips on finding your body shape and what will flatter it!
