A couple weeks ago I visited Rooterville Animal Sanctuary to take pictures of their rescue animals. I met the team at Gainsville Veg Fest and was invited to come and take pictures of their sanctuary. I have heard about their sanctuary but never got the chance to go out and take photographs.
When I first was driving to the place Google took me on quite an adventure. It told me I could "save time" by going down this dirt road. Mind you, I have a Mazda 3 so I don't have 4 wheel drive. I took it slow but there were some questionable parts that made my heart beat fast. And the dirt road kept going... I was thinking, is Google taking me to the right place? I couldn't turn around as the dirt road was enclosed by trees. And no cell service. Luckily I had the courage to keep going and the place came up. I was so thankful. Apparently, Google takes most people the wrong way. Thanks, Google...
Anyways, I was greeted by the friendliest of animals. They all followed me around and loved getting their picture taken. Or at least they loved the attention. :) I love the message and the why Rooterville exists. They take in animals that are either abused or abandoned. They want all animals to live a long and happy life free of abuse. I also appreciated that they let their animals roam free about the sanctuary. I often saw pigs just roaming around the grounds and not in any specific pen. This made my heart smile because animals deserve to be free and to do as they please. I could tell that they were very happy there. All the animals are well taken care of and quite spoiled. And that's how an animal's life should be!
It's so important to support places like these. Without places like these, the animals would not have a second chance at a better life. Look up local animal sanctuaries in your area today. Consider volunteering or donating to them today. The owners and animals would love you for doing so!
I hope you enjoyed some of the photos I took while there! It was a lot of fun, and I plan on going back there again soon. If you know of anyone who would love to know about Rooterville, please share this post!
